Project Description

Project involved the preparation of preliminary concept and detailed designs, project management, cost estimating, implementation of a testing and commissioning program and operational testing for the new standby power system serving the Lake Major Water Supply Plant.

Scope of Work

The specific scope of the project included the following elements:

  • Prepare technical specification documents for the purpose of tendering the manufacture and supply of all major pieces of equipment.  These items would include a new 600V service entrance switchgear assembly, two (2) 1000 kW, 600V, standby diesel engine-generators with double wall fuel tank bases and sound attenuating enclosures, the generators’ synchronizing controls, new 2500 kVA padmount transformer with environmental oil, new 2500A cable bus in trench systems, and a new remote electrical building for the switchgear.
  • Prepare detailed design drawings, including equipment layouts, integration of existing equipment details, temporary bypass/power supply details, concrete foundations for generators, electrical building, transformer, electrical single line diagrams, generator synchronizing controls, bill of materials, cable racks and cable bus in trench diagrams/details, cable schedules and groundings details.
  • Develop new synchronizing control logic to control and monitoring of the 600V service entrance switchgear assembly and standby generators system.
  • Prepare detailed Scope of Work packages for the purpose of tendering the installation and integration of the new standby power distribution system equipment and generators synchronizing controls.
  • Provide site review of the electrical and civil contractors during the construction period.
  • Provide electrical testing and commissioning services for the new pieces of equipment associated with the service entrance 600V switchgear assembly and the standby generators control system.
  • Prepare detailed switching procedures to energize and tie-in the new standby power distribution equipment to the existing plant power distribution equipment.
